I have been posting photos that I have taken over the years of police cars. They are dotted about on various forum topics.
I thought that it might be useful to put them under one heading so that they can be accessed for reference purposes.
If you have any interesting photos or information or maybe questions regarding police cars or motorcycles, please add them here.
I will start with this photograph of a Ford V8 pilot, taken in 1994.

I do enjoy seeing pics of old Police cars. From growing up in the 70's I can just about remember Mark 2 Escorts being used with the light blue bodywork and white doors, and everyone's favourite, the "jam sandwich" Rovers.I can also recall growing up in Oman in the 80's where the Police were issued a fleet of Saab 900 Turbo's :

Love the pic of the bike as well, complete with "granny slicer" front numberplate it seems

Thanks for the comments.
I have plenty more photographs of cars and bikes and will post others soon. Including a SAAB UK police car.
I thought that I would start with the early cars and work my way up to white police cars.
Please add photos that you find interesting or remember as a child or perhaps when you took a ride in the back seat!

Thanks for these, Bob.
My dad was in the force from 1966, retiring after his 30 years service. Memories include :
- being scared silly sitting in his Miggie Minor Police van when he switched the revolving blue light on
- a new Mini City being delivered to our Police house complete with a hose to wash it
- cadging a lift home from school in the Range Rover when it was snowing like hell, then the sergeant who was driving understeering into a picket fence
- my dad being asked to evaluate a recently launched SD1 V8 which, of course, he invited my second opinion on.

Sadly no photos for obvious reasons, but my first ever car ride was in the back of a Met. Police area car, one of X Div's last Wolseley 6/99's before they got replaced by Jag S-Type's.I don't remember it as I was less than a week old, as Dad was the WO and was on duty the day my Mum and I were released from maternity hospital so he collected us in the area car...

Which police force, ex Kent police?
If that's its orginal reg number, then that car was first registered in Bucks, so more likely Thames Valley, which did have some Lotus-Cortina's.In fact a quick check shows this car was one of 16 x Mk.2 Lotus Cortina's used by Thames Valley, registered LKX 361H to LKX 376H.
LKX 362H also has survived.
Thames Valley also had 6 G reg LC's as well, 2 of which were built as 4 door cars, one of which was written off in an accident.

I hope he gets it restored, a very rare car now.

It is just in that garage for storage, he will be restoring it himself just collecting parts at the moment.
This resides on the I.O.W. i cant remember if it is a Lotus though.
