I'm not convinced the "journalist" has come across the RH&DR before...

Anyway, for anyone who likes such "retro" photos (as I do) Hoxton Mini Press does some lovely books (no affiliation!) https://www.hoxtonminipress.com/collections/vintag...

I know it isn't a period pic, but hopefully isn't too far off topic.
We had a family day out last October at Brooklands when such things were still possible and I got this photo of an old Green Line RF bus, which was really special to me as my maternal Grandad used to drive them on the 725 route between Gravesend (where he lived) and Windsor in the 50s and early 60s until he retired.
I remember them well because London Country used to run them sometimes on the 468 bus route I used in my teens between school in Epsom and home in West Ewell.

I seem to remember that when those Green Line buses were first converted to flashing turn signals (I think they had trafficators previously) someone had the bright idea of putting both left and right turn signals in a single panel on the offside rear. The lights having arrow shaped holes cut in the panel to indicate turn direction
No problem if turning right, as I noticed driving behind one in the 60's, but apparently quite a few accidents caused by people being caught out by left turning buses as the arrow-shapes were too small to easily distinguish and just looked like a right turn signal. Nostalgia!

Yes, I remember that. This one has hade more modern lighting fitted, but you can see the original 'double-ended arrow' above the number plate. No problem if turning right, as I noticed driving behind one in the 60's, but apparently quite a few accidents caused by people being caught out by left turning buses as the arrow-shapes were too small to easily distinguish and just looked like a right turn signal. Not that new, published early November 2020 - okay, not that long ago. Review of a new book, but lots of very evocative photos in the article
Retail was £36.50, but currently £18.19 on amazon.
Perhaps worth a punt at that price?
A few London scenes, and does say up to 1960s, I wonder if the 'mystery car' from these threads appears?
On behalf of https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&... ......
Has anyone actually got the book and if so, does it have this photo in? (or even this scene from a different perspective)

And if the photo is in is there a photo credit?
