Interesting article here on the very first tail fin designs for cars in 1948. Embedded silent video is not 100% correct in description as one of the cars is a Hudson., not a Cadillac. Presumably there for comparison.

Had a '48 Cadillac sedan - strangely more European in many respects than American, especially in terms of handling and ride comfort - totally different to what was to come in later years from GM. If the story is true about Cadillac copying the Bentley R type Continental for their 1948 Sedanette pehaps not so strange.....
