During the past week I’ve seen this D-type evocation in several locations around Tokyo and managed to grab a few photos. It’s good to see it getting some use and it sounded wonderful and had that typical old car smell of oil and petrol emanating from it.

It appears to be UK registered as “YDR 88” (?) and I wondered if Lowdrag or someone else more up to speed with the various D-type evocations is able to identify it?

Thanks, Voxy

Is it a RAM? Seems high ride height is a bit high + wheels do not seem to sit/fill arches as other reps? Either way - kudos to the guy using it and much more interesting transport option than modern porridge

There are a couple of owners in Japan of original cars one of which we restored in the 80s but, as you say, that does look like a replica at a glance. Whose is anybody's guess!

Thanks both for your replies. It seems to be getting a lot of use at present, so hopefully I may get a closer look sometime.

He should keep his head down, lest the Browns Lane legal department try to sue and ruin him.with a spurious and vexatious legal claim

That goes for most of the world, including the UK.

Ironically enough, in my experience you're more likely to find someone who 'knows the difference' in Japan than almost anywhere else.

Definitely a RAM, as Rossb said. Can tell by the profile of the rear arch, in particular, against the wheel. Very distinctive.
