Porsche 944 ‘Singer’
Discussion
Which is a shame, because the 944 is an amazing car.
I think they will have their day very soon and the market for a 'Singer' 944 is right around the corner.
Early cars with the cookie cutter wheels and holey dash, harks back to the 1970's and throw in some clear lens covers and 944GTP styling cues would work.

Late oval dash cars, with the S2 body and a variation on the very subtle but classy 944 Turbo disc wheels.

That 3.0 4 is a strong engine.
The chassis is predictable and will take more power.
The shape has a Porsche quality that is a recognisable as the 928 or 911.

The 944 is all about balance, with the rear transaxle it's just sublime, it doesn't need excessive power, and it certainly doesn't need dirty fat modern rubber, that would destroy the handling where grip becomes a major player and destroys the balance. That 3.0 4 is a strong engine.

Agreed, they are delicious cars to drive. I took my 944 S2 from 100k to 215k miles in ten years and it was a lovely, lovely thing. Sadly in storage now but will be out again very soon ....
Values are on the up. Whether they will ever reach the stratospheric levels of the 964 or 993 is however in doubt.

I'm waiting for carbon wings, bonnet and rear wing to be delivered for my 968. As it has been said they are great handling cars, but could handle a bit more power. Unfortunately you need to spend a lot of money to get more power, unless you go for forced induction.
The plan for muy car is to shed some weight but without going full racecar with buckets and stripped out interior as I do large road trips.
I really wanted a 964/993 but they are 20k more and having raced one they aren't any faster from 120-200kph, also they're less practical and imo not worth the price difference. Hence I have chosen to spend the money on getting my 968 how I want it.

944 doesn’t have the halo to support $200k+ pricing.
Well, there was one (albeit the 924)...
