That same car had been through other classic auctions 2 years ago without selling....

The restoration was 10 years ago.
Perhaps a few had seen Salvage Hunters : Classic cars who recently did a Fiesta Supersport and found a 'customer' who paid £24k ish for it...
I was tempted by the lovely 1965 Lancia Sedan with a guide price of £8k - £10k. It went for £23k!! I wonder if people were looking at guide prices for the coupé version in error........

The Alfa Giulia looked decent enough too, and went for £8,750 (I think) against an estimate of £4.5 to £6K.
It was a bit tatty up close. The Junior making £19k plus commission was very strong money too.The Fiesta wasn't in bad condition - even with non original seats etc. It was strong money though
It takes 2 to bid it a car up that high though, and only registered traders (i.e. carrying out their profession) were allowed to view 'in the flesh' so to speak. I'd suggest quite a few were buying on photos and description only.
Another one that seem to over-sell was a 2004 SLK 200 unless bidders really wanted a manual gearbox. Yes it had only 34k miles on it, but the top of the guide price was £4k; it sold for £5750 + fees, well over £6k! A massive 3 service stamps.I wonder if it's had new front wings..... Could have got a 350 for that money although with more miles admittedly.
As one of the comments in the sidebar on the youtube feed said, must have had a gold bar in the boot.

Watched the live stream today, was some lovely machinery, some of the hammer prices were eye opening.
Bond Bug for £27K + fees anyone?
I spotted this one coming up as I restored one myself back in about 1981 - just an amazing bid amount at the end! I did a full-on restoration to mine and sold it to Germany in about 1983...like all of these things, if only we had a crystal ball! It was nice to see a properly finished Bug, most I've seen on the internet or on TV(Wheeler Dealers, looking at you) have always had bits missing or the details wrong.Bond Bug for £27K + fees anyone?
