Nice 280TE for sale
Discussion
It last went through a Historics auction in July 2019 for £14,336:

All the cars in their next auction have been listed as classifieds on ebay, the guide is £13k - £18k. It's on 17th April:

The 280 TE cars do seem to fetch a lot, they sold a 198k mile example (A271 TMJ) in March 2019 for £10k!
However, advisories at the MoT in July 2020 for an engine oil leak and leaking front dampers, unless rectified, shows it to be a bit over-valued IMHO.

I must admit I don't really understand how you'd use it.
Old estates are for shedding about in, dogs, tip runs, station cars, etc. This example is far too nice.
We have two S204 estates, one 2012 and the other 2014. Both have the long protective rubber matting that covers from behind the front seats and an extension that goes over the rear bumper for when you are loading and unloading heavy stuff. believe me, the car doesn't have to be old to be used for transporting just about anything! I did have a W124 estate years back which did 350,000 with never a murmur, and we had no rust problems. I used to take - and still do - take my cars to the car wash at the end of March and give it the full works, including underside jets, just to get all the crud out. Seems to work.Old estates are for shedding about in, dogs, tip runs, station cars, etc. This example is far too nice.

I've got a 230ce that's in reasonable condition and that gets well used for all sorts including tip runs. It needn't get damaged if you're reasonably careful.Old estates are for shedding about in, dogs, tip runs, station cars, etc. This example is far too nice.
I love my Coupe as it's not too large, but I really do have a hankering for an estate to waft about in. The W123 is such a useable car. I'd happily use mine every day, and in better weather it gets almost equal use with my modern.

More mentally priced TEs, the red one bringing new meaning to the term "overpriced"....

They do look very nice; but seriously, £50+k for a run- of-the-mill old Merc estate? In its favour, I suppose that it does have electric windows
Either I've lost the plot, or the world's gone mad.

Couldn’t agree more. But then when you see Sierra Cosworths going for £60k plus it’s little wonder
