Taken from a RR post; I did a double take, thinking it to be 9600HP

Well RR always used to quote their power output as "adequate", I suppose 9000HP should be adequate.
Jaguar used to plot their power output graphs with a fairly fat pencil.

It's still around somewhere, and still wearing the same plate. Shows on the DVLA as 5993cc. It'd be interesting to see it.

OK got it - 9600 HP being one of the original E types.

I’m guessing this car made an RR forum because it’s a Jag Mk9 dressed up to look like a RR Silver Shadow. However I reckon those double headlight units were donated by something a bit more humble - an Austin 3 Litre ?

5993 ? So it’s now packing a V12 ?

Something very similar to that and with a similar reg used to drive round south Leicester area in the early 1980’s. It was loud, as a youngster I thought it was great

It looks a bit like a Jaguar MK II with a Rolls Royce front grafted on to it.

It's a Jaguar Mark 9.

Yep, see my post from Thursday. A Mk9 with Austin 3 Litre headlight units grafted on I reckon.

Would love to know what happened to this one, anyone know ?

Memories of seeing one of these in late 1972 and 73 are flooding back.
A boy called Toby was in the year above me at my school in Loughton.
Each morning @ about five to nine, a scruffy rust holed MK9 would shoot up the sloping drive way @ a great rate of knots, with Tobys Dad ( who was a dead ringer for L.J.K Setwright ) @ the wheel.
Once @ the top of the drive, the left rear door would open and Toby would jump out, the Jag would then reverse and steam back down the drive again.
I’ve been a huge fan of these ever since, but have never owned one.

Roy Kinnear drove one in the short lived TV series 'Cowboys', around 1980/81.

XUL299, long dead now.

Following my earlier post about seeing this car in Leicester in the 70’s and 80’s it appears that it could indeed be the same one. Been looking at the Berpop fb page and the chap is from the area.
