What's the car at 0:47 going for a tenner? Looks pretty basic and mostly consists of a big engine.

The engine looks big because of the angle of the camera. Seems like a period boy racer has added front cycle wings and badge bar.

I like the idea of " very old car", Seems like only yestarday to me. Have a look at something built in 1900.

"old car" would be something post-war e.g. a Cortina.

Yes not particularly old or rare. Radiator grille and bonnet are unmodified Ford 8Y but badgebar etc are a bit like this Arrow-bodied tourer but with cycle front wings.
