Looking to buy a reliable 'modern classic' which will meet the new London ULEZ emissions and hopefully hold its value, two door preferable and budget up to about £50k.

Was initially thinking of a Ferrari 456GT or a BMW ZM coupe but sadly neither seem to pass ULEZ. Currently looking at a BMW E46 CSL but welcome all thoughts :-)

Look at Alpina, my 2003 B3S is ULEZ compliant!, where as my BMW 225XE PHEV is not. Logic or what!

When I was pondering that question, the idea I could not get rid of was ... Jensen Interceptor: 7.2litre, and age exempt; two doors, nice big hatchback, very usable...

I've def neither space nor funds for such a toy though. Do make it, or similar, happen -please.

Needs to be modern as I already have a classic even though I love the Interceptor. Not sure on reliability either!

The E28 & E30 Alpinas I love sadly are too old & the newer ones I just don't lust after. AMGs just too common and I worry most will lose value. IMHO of course.

nah, that can't be right?! I'm sure a 225 PHEV will be ULEZ compliant!

I know you put the word "reliable" in your requirements, but then I saw you also wrote "Ferrari 456", so I guess we have a liberal interpretation of that word.

How about

TVR T350
TVR Tamora
TVR Tuscan
Aston DB9
Aston DBS
Lotus Elise
Lotus Evora
Chevy Corvette C6
Jag XKR(-S)
Maserati Granturismo
Nissan GT-R
Porsche 997 Turbo (or a Carrera/S)

Most of the Porsches built after around 2005 are ULEZ compliant (my 05 Boxster is).

Well, I've owned a 550 which was reliable and similar to the 456 but get your point...then see you list three TVRs? ;-)

DBS a good shout and 911 too though I'm concerned about them holding their value. As Im 6'6" I think the Lotuses are out.

Im a serial classic car owner so I guess it will always be hard for me to find something 'modern' which still has a little character and exclusivity.

2000 996 Carrera 2 3.4 is too. You can apply to TFL for an exemption using the Certificate of Conformity which Porsche UK will provide free of charge.

All very helpful if you do not wish to change your car or username

Most of the people that I've seen at car shows that own one are older gentlemen. They were cars that they lusted over in their youth.
The guy who owns this highly modified one is in his late 50's i believe, and he has a readers car thread on here.

Really? I have a 2001 996 3.4 which TFL’s website is not ulez compliant. Would you be able to share the process please? I’d love to keep using the 996 after the ulez zone changes.

I ran a 225XE PHEV for three years (up to when the contract ran out last November) - the reason for selecting that was that is was exempt from daily congestion charge - and ULEZ compliant. Mind you the annual renewal of the exemption was very much hit or miss and quite difficult.
I know that operating times and days for daily CC have expanded.......and ULEZ moves further out in a few months..........wasn't aware of specific vehicles 'falling-out' of the charges......
