The Plan To Find and Buy Back My Grandfather's Cars - Help!
Discussion
Morning Folks,
My late grandfather was a regular race at Goodwood and the like back in the day.
I've recently come across some pictures of him racing in period and would love to uncover some more details about the cars he's photographed in (particularly the top two).
The plan is when funds allow to buy back one of his cars, take it back to Goodwood and race it in his honour.
If anyone has any more info on the cars I'd love to know what they are and any background info? Fairly sure top right is a Prototype Elva. Top left has HWM vibes.
Thank you!

Martin Gadsby was his name and he raced in the 50s.

HI there
the first two are fantastic cars, just my thing. However a quick search on DVLA and askMID give no records for them.
Doesn't mean they no longer exist but just aren't currently insured or have a modern V5/been for an MOT since 2005.
Hopefully they are tucked away in a barn somewhere.
I'm assuming you've been in contact with these guys.

When finding the history of my own 56 car the club was very helpful, but not all the older generation are on facebook and some preferred communication by phone etc.

Hey Jon,
Yep, have searched DVLA and the like to no avail.
Been in contact with more lovely folk from the Elva community who’ve helped. It seems more than likely both cars are either long gone or hidden in a barn somewhere. Only time will tell.
In some regards though they bother me less than the Riley. It’s my understanding that he raced the Elvas on occasion but did not own them whereas the Riley he both raced and owned.
I’m hunting for a closer picture of the Riley to get the number plate and work from there!
