Rear reg. Plate lights
Discussion
Donme some googling but cannot answer this:
Anybody know when rear reg. plate lights became obligatory?
I think I am about to become the proud and oily owner of a 1971 Landy and there is debate about where to site reg plaes (left or right), and with that I am assuming there was no rear reg plate light at manufacture?

I may be wrong but I think the reg plate light is actually built in to the rear lights Anybody know when rear reg. plate lights became obligatory?

The rear side / brake light lens has a clear bit at the bottom of it as per answer 3 in the link below to act as number plate light and if you scroll down the answers there is a picture of the light

My 1971 land rover has one of these https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Lucas-467-Number-Plate-... weather it is right or not I don't know.
1971 Series III Land Rovers had the over number plate light fitted [as did most Land Rovers through to end of the Defenders in 2016]. Here's the component number & info'

When I temporarily debumpered my tr4 for rechroming, the numberplate lights were in the over-riders. All I did was rewire them into these led studs that fit in place of the numberplate securing screws. Neat and provide enough light for legislative purposes.

What a great idea, just ordered a pair off eBay for less than a fiver. Thanks for the tip.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
