I have a mk6 Celica (the one with 4 round headlights) and it needs work, both cosmetic and mechanical... it’s clearly in shed territory at the moment.

Last time I looked my car was worth hardly anything and thus I kept it as a shed. But now they are seemingly rising in value.

Do we think they will keep rising and it’s worth me restoring it?

For the love of the car, satisfaction and posterity yes, absolutely worth restoring.

For any sort of financial gain, nope!

They already have, GT-Four's have quadrupled in value. Maybe the next sporty model down might appreciate too.

Of the Celicas, that is probably one of my least favourite, stylistically, so I'm not so sure it has any imminent chance of appreciating, apart from the current silly inflation of all car prices, across the board.

No point comparing it to the halo models, anymore than comparing a 1.6 Capri to a 2.8iS.

The correct answer is: Of course it will.

What cannot be guaranteed, is by how much, and when.

Even mundane, daily runabouts have gone up in value over the years.

MK1 Granada's used to sell for £100 a time in okay condition, maybe £500 in good condition - Try buying one in roadworthy condition for that today!

Same deal with cars such as the MK3 Cortina, MK1 Cavaliers, Marinas, Escorts, Triumph Dolomites etc., etc., etc. - They were all just cheap old cars once upon a time.

Wait long enough though, let them become rare, and their value will go up.

When was the last time you saw a Ford Sierra, or a MK1 Mondeo on the road? - Not for a while I suspect.

Again, they were £500 old cars at one time. Find one in good to immaculate condition, and you'll be paying more than £500.

There are a lot of cars that are selling for good money now, that were worth peanuts once upon a time.
