Hi all, I have a C type replica that has been dismantled at some point in the past and it is missing the suspension. Starting with the front wishbone set up I am using XK120 upper wishbone and need to source the lower wishbone set up that in turn operates the torsion bar. I don't know anything about who made the chassis I have other than it appears to be pretty accurate. I am not a purist so am looking for a cost effective solution to getting the wheels on! You can see in the attached photo that there was certainly the correct set up installed at some point. So I am after either an original set up which I'm guessing is going to be very expensive or an alternative set up that would work fine with my chassis. Any ideas out there...any contacts? Many thanks in advance.

Speak to Chris Keith Lucas at CKL Developments, he was my boss when we were both at Lynx Engineering. I doubt there is anyone on the planet better equipped to point you in the right direction and they may even have the torsion bars and other bits lying around somewhere. Give him my best wishes!

If it is using XK lower wishbones I would expect to see the mounting points on the lower chassis rail. The lower wishbone is much more substantial than the upper.

On an XK120 the bolts are inside the chassis and point down through the lower wishbone bracket then secures with nuts. 2 at the front, 2 and the back of each lower wishbone.

This is a picture of the other side.

XK parts are expensive!

Some of these replicas might use MK5,7 or MK9 parts instead as there is some interchangeability. Note the word "some"!

Speak to Mike or Philip at Suffolk Classic Services Ltd ( formerly Suffolk Sportscars ) .
He can sort you out with the correct bits ( they even make them new ) .

Thanks for all the replies...really helpful and I am seeing CKL on Monday. Chatting with Suffolk Classic Services today and have someone who knows all about fitting an XK120 set up to the car if I wish to pursue that route. So...great result and my first time as a member on Pistonheads and I cant thank you all enough!
