I know the Ford prices are riding a wave right now, but a 1.6GL at 30 thousand? eek

It looks like an immaculate survivor, no engine photos, but for a "cooking" 1.6 GL surely that's a bit optimistic?

Yet right underneath on C&C is a green one with 8000 miles for half that. I'd guess 12k tops for sheer novelty value, at a push.

I drove these old Fords in period and honestly anything less than a 2 litre was a pretty miserable experience even back hen. WTF are people thinking.

Always easier to bring the price down if you want to sell rather than add some on amid a flurry of phone calls

I agree that anything less than a 1.6 in this era of Ford were painfully slow furious

I owned a MK3 Ford Capri 1.6S. It had 88 BHP as opposed to the 1.6 GL’s 75 BHP courtesy of the Twin Carbs fitted as standard to this model. This more powerful 1.6 engine was also fitted to the Cortina 1.6 Ghia.

The Capri even with 88 BHP was extremely slow and thirsty. All performance problems were solved in 1 hit with purchase of a Fiat Mirafiori Sport smash

You always needed the next engine size up in a Capri compared to an Escort we always thought e.g 1300 Escort Sport/GT would be right with a 1600 Capri
The V6 lumps made them imho

How is that listed as a 72 being a Mk3 it's an 82 Shirley?

For that sort of money I'd at the very least expect an external wing (or door) mirror

I'm not sure which is the more daft. The price asked for some classics or a Rolex watch. Come to think of it, it has to be the Rolex; they are still being made and selling at multiples of list price. It's like asking for £100,00 for your new Astra.

Wouldn't want it personally but it could be the rarity of the lower/bae models, as many have had engine transplants and upgrades.

The V12 Capri further down the listings caught my eye - especially the quite frank description from the vendor

In that era of Capris, I always felt that anything that was not ‘S’ or Ghia was best avoided.

£8-10K at the very most....that is a crazy total unrealistic price!

I acquired a very decent '79 2.0 Ghia Capri for the extortionate sum off which I swapped for a set of used XR2 alloys without tyres or centre caps.

I then drove said Capri for the next six years without incident.

In fact, none of my six Capris seemed to give me any problems whatsoever and other than servicing I simply drove them for 30 years and several hundred thousand miles.

You're all wrong, you know. It's not £30,000.

It's £10,000 for the car, and £20,000 for the alterations required to remove the brick pillar to get it out of the garage. RSJs don't come cheap, do they?

Whilst I don’t like the model (1.6 GL) I do like the colour.

Regardless of that, it is not a £30k car
