identify security stamp on chassis plate - any ideas
Discussion
I've watched enough YouTube videos about old guns to recognise that as some kind of US Army Inspection Stamp, a quick Google shows it as "US Army Ordinance Department inspector's stamp"

Thanks chap looks the same, would they have ever marked the chassis plates on a 45 MB ?
Its been a long time since dabbled in WW2 vehicles.....but from memory, yes it would have had an Ordnance stamp on a 43(?) to 45 MB. All vehicles that were taken into the US Army at the time would had that ordnance stamp (not USN or USMC etc)My dimming memory says that stamp was one of the pointers to it being an original data plate as most (this was several decades ago) repro plates just had the ORD letters stamped into them, and not the other stamp as no one made a repro of the stamp itself.
