Lost a wiper blade in the wind and sleet of the other week. The fitting between the arm and blade went with it.

So, all I need is the plastic fitting that the arm clips into which the blade can then clip to.

Easy. Except I can't find any because I don't know what it is called. There will be tonnes for sale but until I discover what search term to use I'm not having any joy.

It's the same tech as old minis and everything from Healys, Triumphs and tonnes of Leyalnd and Rover stuff. But the mini blades have the connector built in whereas I need the separate plastic connector for this type of blade:

Does anyone know what the term is that I'm looking for?

Do you mean the part that used to come in all sorts of different types with wiper blades to fit whatever kind of arm you had, and you always ended up throwing away loads?

If you also lost the blade, can't you buy anew one with the various fittings as per the post above mine?

All sage advice. However, on this occasion I'm not quite the moron you are assuming. For once.

The reason for the post is that I've now bought several replacement blades but none have the actual adaptor I require.

Part of the problem is that the main database they all seem to reference has the Range Rover Classic down as having always had the hook type arm, 1970-1995 however, the pre '84 cars have the flat arm that an adapter pushes onto.

The end result is that I have a lifetime supply of new blades from assorted brands but still no crappy plastic adaptor. biggrin

This sort of clip - pushes onto a flat arm end?:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Range-Rover-2-x-Door-Cl...

That type of blade shows up with various part numbers in LRcat & in the 1977 LR parts book I've got.
Some numbers are then superseded to the hook type but doesn't show an adapter.
This JLR shows the push on type: https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/prc6827-b...

In LRcat the hook type don't show until the 92-94 models which is rather different for this from JLR:
https://parts.jaguarlandroverclassic.com/prc6826-a...

Just to confuse things further mine's got the type which have a pin through the blade & into the top of the arm. Probably whatever they had in the parts bin that day!

Yes. The really early ones are push fit onto a smaller gear. You'd also need to try and remove the black paint to get to a stainless steel finish.

Thanks. Yes, this is the problem. Prior to the change to the hook type arm with the large spindle fitting, either in 84 or 86, the blades were typically sold with the fitting element in metal and attached. Ie exactly the same design as minis, healys, Land Rovers etc.

By using the plastic adaptor you can just clip in modern blades. Nice and simple.

But weirdly unable to find the plastic adaptors. They will be there but the problem is that I'm not finding them because I don't know what their correct name is.

Compounding this is that the LR parts specialists I have spoken to so far have no idea what I'm going on about. biggrin

is there a reason why you can't just change the wiper arm, and use the one that is the hook type.

It's finding the later hook style arm that as the smaller, earlier wiper fitting to the actual motor. The post 85 hook type arm for the Range Rover has a much larger fitting.

Could something like this be re-purposed to allow the larger, hook-type arms to be fitted?

Didn't these older type of blades simply clip on to the flat end of the wiper arm, or have I mis-remembered that?

Are these the kind of thing you're looking for, or have I picked up the wrong end of the stick?

Yea. This is my last resort as I'll need three to match and then have to spend silly money every 6 months to replace. The £1 plastic adaptor just allows any old, cheap modern blade to be used. Of which I now have a good supply! smile

That's looks exactly right. The little metal clip to snag the nipple on the flat arm and then the bar in the modern blades can just clip in to the slot.

There wasn't by any chance a link to where they can be bought?

Ah, I'm with you now wink

Bayonet adaptors, although the only one I can find is as per link, but I've no idea whether Heyner blades have the same 'fitting' as the ones you have.

Why not just replace the rubber with a universal refill kit?
