Which Practical Classic?
Discussion
I've currently got several classics and one daily workhorse in a Ford Galaxy 2.3 auto. It's very versatile as a car, minibus, van etc but a bit expensive to run. I'm thinking there must be a cheap classic equivalent that I won't be too precious about, will be free tax and cheap insurance. Any ideas?
There's always a fair few of these on Auto Scout 24 - the 'Familiale' version of the 850/900 van series. Not especially cheap to buy, but shouldn't be expensive to run if you pick a decent one. Lots of character and LHD won't be a problem on something so narrow - as long as you're not in a hurry of course.....

Other options might include the 7-seater versions of the Peugeot 504/505 or Citroen CX - trying to find one that hasn't been ragged to death is probably the biggest challenge and in the case of the CX, I doubt you'll be saving any running costs over the Galaxy!

Nope....other than its a daft idea.No 40+ year old vehicle is going to be cheap to run as a daily workhorse.....maybe a Type 2 bus, but they are not exactly cheap.
