Great article here

http://www.jagweb.com/aj6eng/djetronic.php

As much as the carburettor served us well for a century, in the classic car context fuel injection becomes ever more relevant and I'm a fuel injection nerd.

Interesting reading that Jag were running D-Jetronic in 1989, pretty sure BMW and the like were running K-Jetronic by then?

Always been fascinated by fuel injection since finding a 70s Alpina slide-throttle injection system with Kugelfischer fuel metering unit/lines lurking in the garage as a youth cool

Jaguar were using Lucas slide throttle injection from the late fifties on, and while very efficient it had its problems, The expansion of the throttle body stopping the slide from moving - usually at maximum revs! It featured on the 1957 Ecurie Ecosse d-types

Presumably why later incarnations of Lucas PI used butterflys for throttling.

I thought of putting Jenvey's on the E-type instead of SU's - until I saw the price. I don't use it enough nowadays to warrant the expense.
