Motor museum/collection. Help needed.
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I was out at the weekend with some old friends. While chatting and reminiscing, we vaguely remembered a trip to a motor museum possibly a private collection. The only problem is, we can’t remember what the place was called or exactly where it was. We know that it closed within a couple of years of our visit and that it would be somewhere north of Birmingham but south of Manchester. Also, that the visit would have been between 1990 and 1998, plus or minus a couple of years.
Can anyone suggest which museum/collection it was and where it was located? All positive responses, to aid the fading memory of this old fart would be gratefully received.

It was here

My photo album says Yorkshire Motor Museum. I thought it was Bradford as I remember some Jowetts
Yes, that looks like it. It was housed in their old textile factory on a random back street in Keighley. I remember it being tightly-packed with lots of American cars, as well as several Jowetts as you mention, which were made locally. It wasn't strictly open to the public, but could be visited by appointment. My dad and I turned up unannounced some time in the late 80s after I'd seen the place on Blue Peter, and the lady on reception had to make a couple of phone calls before letting us in to wander around unattended. My photo album says Yorkshire Motor Museum. I think that place only opened recently, so not in the right timescale for the OP.Gassing Station | Classic Cars and Yesterday's Heroes | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
