MGB SPX 181 F

This 1967 roadster I helped my son rebuild some 20 years ago, unfortunately he passed away 4 years ago; The car is on DVLA site currently taxed, I would like to track the car down with a view to purchasing it, both myself and my daughter would be keen to return it to the family. Anybody know its whereabouts, thanks in advance.

Yes, they are called parking enforcement companies.

Personally, the first place I would look/ask for help would be on the PH marques, MG.

As for the comment about DVLA, it's a government agency. Should tell you everything you want to know... ie they're in it for money, end of.

Not quite - under data protection law, they can only pass personal information on to someone if they have reasonable cause to require it. A request from a private individual may not be sufficient, worth a try but not guaranteed.

Oh I know that. My point was directed at how slow and useless they can be, but not so when say buying a reg plate!
For much else they take ages (and it seems not much care) when you want something. And they can hash it up. Big time if it's something special to you.

When a new logbook was required (years ago now) and you had to send in your 'old' one. I did, but it had 'historic' value to me because of the car in question (in fact, they actually made clear 'if you want the old one returned enclose a SAE or request it's returned to the sender).

I did everything they asked.
Didn't hear a dicky bird. So I rang them (this was when you rang someone picked up the phone!).

It went roughly along these lines.
'We're very sorry but we haven't received your logbook.'
'Strange' I said 'I sent it registered post and someone your end not only signed for it, but I also have the time they signed for it.'

'Oh, just a second, can you hold the line.'

Several mins later.
'We're very sorry but that has been binned' (well, she didn't use that word, but you get the idea).

Then gobsmack moment...
'We can send you a photocopy of it if you want.'

Jesus wept!
And that's only one encounter of several. Most entail hanging on a phone to excuse after excuse.
