Well, its turning into a very long story.

I'm on my way to Nottingham (from New Zealand) to recreate some photos that probably date from the late 20's.

The location is 15 Pelham Crescent, The Park, Nottingham.

But what are the cars? One could be a Humber,

Hope the picture is uploaded OK

Two of the people are a great uncle and great aunt. Great uncle was a chess grandmaster, great aunt made wooden jigsaw puzzles.

I will be in Nottingham Thursday 5th June, via Ffestiniog, Aberystwyth, Poole, Southampton, Brackley, Colchester, and Bedford, in a Toyota Yaris Hybrid.

Agree picture 2 could be a Humber. Picture 1 - Clyno? Maybe 3 & 4 are both the same car?

First one could be a mid twenties Jowett 7.

The door handle on the last one suggests it is a Wolseley.

No ideas on the makes I'm afraid, but I think that no.2 & no.4 are the same car.
Doesn't help much (at all) - sorry!.

Well, I'm in Colchester staying with my big sister, looking through some old family documents - and I can confirm that one of the cars is a Humber - number plate CF 2781 as I've just found a hand written record of the car's journeys.

Start date is 8th May 1927, speedo on 834 miles.

First one is a Singer (probably a 10) and the second and fourth are indeed a Humber (9/20?).

Currently cogitating on the third photo...

My thoughts - I was stuck on the 3rd photo also...

Taking the cars in age order...

Photo3.
AU182. This is clearly the oldest car of the three. The AU series of registrations were issued in Nottingham between Jan 03 (the first registrations ever) and April 24. Registrations rates generally were very slow initially, certainly not a linear rate when taking WW1 and post WW1 demand in consideration. I'm not sure on this one, but I think the car is a Calthorpe Minor 10/12hp dating from 1914/15.

Photos 2 and 4.
CF278?. This is a Humber 11.4 with Doctor's coupe bodywork. Humber made high quality but not particularly sporting cars. CF registrations were issued in W Suffolk from Jan 21 to July 30. The 11.4 finished production in 1924, so this fits also. Maybe this was purchase of a high quality used car from outside the area?

Photo1.
RR4802. This is the newest car - a Singer 10/26 made between 1925 and 1927. The RR series of registrations were issued in Nottinghamshire between March 25 and Oct 28, which fits well with the car and your location.

Photo 3 is the toughie - I'm still more minded towards Cluley than Calthorpe though?
