Can anybody enlighten me as to the engine manufacturer of the Standard four cylinder OHV a as used in the mid 1920’s ? Was it a meadows unit ? I can’t find any information online regarding my question. Thanks.

Appears to be a standard built engine, following on from their prewar engines.

During the war standard built (RAF-developed) engines and complete airframes for the RAF along with several other manufacturers, so they certain had machine-tools to continue with manufacturing post-war.

In 1931 the SS1 used a 15HP standard-developed and built engine, showing that they were constructing their own by that point.

I can't find any reference to it being a bought in engine so it looks like it was their own manufacture.

Interestingly they only appear to have made ohv engines from 1921 until 1928. They then produced only SV engines until the late 1940's.
