Blast from the past, I was a fresh faced 18 year old just out of school, and a month into training as a QS. Did not even own at car at that point, bought my first one a Cavalier Sri the following year.

It’s a good watch. The MK2 Cavalier SRI was always a good car. The Rover 800 looked like an unreliable piece of junk even when new. Apparently the early cars were truly awful. Such unreliability continued as my 89 827 Vitesse was plagued with issues.

That brings back some memories. I went to every single NEC British Motor Show.

Interesting to see that!

I went to Earls Court every year from the mid-60s until it got replaced by Motorfair, but never to the NEC - it was a protest vote!

And I lived in Surrey but didn't have a licence when it first moved
