I had occasion to visit King Edward VII hospital in Windsor today and this thing awaited me outside as I was leaving. I'm 50 years old and like to think I've seen most of the old British classics in one form or another. But I've never seen one of these before. I started chatting to the owner (who looks exactly as you'd imagine the owner of this car to look) right outside the front entrance, as he was blocked in by various vans and lorries who were manoeuvring. The chap seemed very happy to oblige my questions and said that the car got a lot of people talking wherever he went.

I was trying to ask lots of questions in the short time available, but the lady on the bench with Ronald McDonald hair kept shouting at me to get me to ask him to move forward as she didn't like the exhaust blowing in her face. Only while she was interrupting there was nowhere for him to go - I have much less info than I would have liked thanks to her constantly shouting over him. But I did manage to grab a few photos with his permission.

Apparently it's based on the Scimitar which is one of my favourite 1960s/'70s cars, but also one of a kind. If you know anything about this thing I'd love to hear it!

Dolomite steering wheel. I'd recognise it anywhere. Well, i would if it had Dolomite written on it.

It's an Anadol A5, from Turkey, and as far as I am aware, has little more connection with a Scimitar than inspiration.

The problem with the Anadol is you can only use them for three days.

There was a thread on these about a month ago or so, and another on this actual car a couple of years ago;

Fantastic, thank you! I was laughing at the comments saying one was enough and the other saying one was excessive. It's not a car I'd like to own, but it's odd and quirky and unusual and for me that's all a car needs to validate its existence!

You're right, he did look exactly like I expected him to after seeing a picture of the car. Particularly like his expression which says 'I hate you taking my picture but I'm doing my best to be a good sport'.

Yep sounds like the South East, especially when there's clearly a bench not even 30 feet away she could have relocated to with 0 effort. Common sense blinded by sheer entitlement.

This car ( identified by the beard on the driver! ) appeared on a Reddit "What's this car?" three years ago!

And its an SV1600 according to the boot badge. The Merc grille badge is unexplained

..and it’s running on aptly-named Fate tyres that appear to have seen a few years’ use.

Not for me, thanks.

Interestingly enough the 2 ARF’s that precede and succede the Anadol in the reg plate sequence are all Reliants - two Robins and two Scimitars.

Maybe only one "Fate"! Rear seems to be a Dunlop according to the higher resolution original:
