Quite often, I see a new thread pop up about a particular ‘classic auction’ ‘a classic car at auction’. Discussions are had, views expressed, experiences shared; then the thread is lost in the annales of time and along with it, all that was a value.

Every week, there are discussions about auctions, cars at auction, classic car values and much more, each time a new thread is opened, maybe that’s the way people like it, or is there a better way?

Welcome to ‘classic car auction thread’ a place where you can discuss topics pertaining to the world of ‘classic car auctions’. Share your insight, impart your knowledge or just talk cobblers.

I wouldn't want to fall foul of any PH advertising rules but could I suggest we 'copy and paste' a list of classic car auction companies - detailing a website for easy reference?

Mathewson's this morning.
Prices all over the place. I do think some of their estimates were low but quite a few lots going way over:
Capri 2.8i - seems very tidy, had someone give it a look over for me (thanks) est £10 - 12K, sold for £20600 + fees
Lotus Excel SE - looked tired, Barn find? est £1-2K sold £6000

A few not sold and quite a few either below or just hitting lower estimate.

Edit: 911 Carerra (1999) manual 86K miles sold for £7750 Edit2 wish I'd seen that when looking through the lists: convertible with hard top.

Watching it this afternoon and lots not sold, I think the 2nd capri went at £10k.

Ive got a bid info tomorrow so hopefully get it for the lower estimate !!

That Mercedes Caracciola coupe, i've not seen that car since a black & white photo in a magazine probably in the 70s, gorgeous thing - be interesting to see what it makes.

An MFG VVC went through for £800. I was quite tempted, then remembered what my wife would say if I bought another car.

An apparently stunning looking 11,846 mile dolomite Sprint coming up for auction with Iconic at the NEC Classic car show.

I love the colour combo and the interior is in lovely condition, doors still lined in the factory clear plastic. Reserve seems fair to me. Must be the lowest original mileage Sprint out there.
