Lovely day at Silverstone yesterday for the VSCC Pomeroy Trophy. The only event where you will see a field of cars ranging from a real(I think) GT40 to an Austin Seven special , sundry pre war Bentleys , ex Achim Wambold BMW 2002 rally, a Ford Galaxie 500 in race spec and a Hispano Suiza.Oh , and sundry Citroen C1s and a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow
Speed , luggage capacity (see VSCC suitcases in action below ) and braking are some of the disciplines in this splendidly bonkers event . All for a fiver too.

Yes- I looked last night but it was all Richard Hammond and his daughter stuff. No problem at all with them , and I'm pleased they are indirectly promoting forgotten corners of the sport . But still a bit weird to see a clutch of media folk .
They're starting to appear on YT. I'm wishing I'd gone now, such a variety of cars, #59 is both impressive and scary!L100NYY said:
Didn’t make it this year unfortunately, I have been a VSCC member for a looooong time but even by VSCC standards it is a superbly brilliantly nutty event!
Having been both a Clerk & a Secretary of the Meeting at that event (not for a few years now though) it always was a nightmare in behind the scenes admin stuff. Absolutely bonkers and great fun though.It's one of those meetings that would never be allowed to be run nowadays if someone came up with the idea. Only keeps going due to grandfather rights really and long may it continue.
From what I understand the rules are of Byzantine complexity, scores are calculated by pipe smoking chaps in tweeds using logarithm tables and, if properly applied , the outcome is that the victor is invariably driving (or should I say a Brooklands -esque "on"? ) a Frazer Nash. Makes sense to me .
