RX7 record price
Discussion
I'm a big fan of the cars but not modified ones like this. Must have been an auctioneer's and seller's dream.

More generally, maybe an indicator of the direction of the market and where future money will go since we're already seeing drastic falls in post war classics as their fans expire.

Was this not the car that was up for sale in the UK on and off for years? I want to say at the £60odd k mark, which was deemed mental at the time.
Now eligible for US import/use under the 25 year rule, hence the massive uplift in value?
Can't find any info on the price but I do remember them being offered by Newera Imports at one point. I used to keep an eye on their site - had a standard FD RX7 from them back around 2003. Lovely car.Now eligible for US import/use under the 25 year rule, hence the massive uplift in value?

I knew my old brain wasn't entirely useless, cheers!
ISTR they keep putting it up at around £60k, when a very nice RX7 was around £15-20k.

Not sure if it was this one particularly, or just a replica one.Now eligible for US import/use under the 25 year rule, hence the massive uplift in value?
Very surprised at the price this fetched though. I would have guessed at maybe £200k tops.
There was one for sale on and off many years ago in Berkshire I think, and was about £44K. Pictures do not do them justice, there was one on display at Podium Place a month or so back and in the flesh it looks really good. As an owner of a Bathurst RX 7 many years ago I much prefer the looks of the later cars and the Spirit R each to his own I guess.
Car is in the background not the black racing NSX, like I say photo's do not do it justice, in the flesh it's pretty sensational.

It's an aberration - surely one for the Badly Modified Cars Thread!
It's surprising how many people are into body mods. For a while I would buy cars with body mods, strip the body kits to sell separately and sell the now stock car. Unlike breaking a car, I never had a problem selling any of the bits. Take a look at some of these prices, as well as their relative price to the value of many of the donor cars. Pretty eye-opening.https://veilside.uk/collections/all
