Cars & Coffee Cafe Crema Amsterdam, 29 March 2026

Three of my favorite 60s/70s cars were present: Lancia Fulvia 1.3S series 2, Lancia Fulvia 1.3 series 1 and a superb looking Lancia Fulvia Zagato 1.3S.

1972 gem in Monte Carlo livery, similar to the 1972 #14 HF of Sandro Munari and Mario Mannucci.

For those who are wondering: on sunday there's no Albert Cuyp market and parking is free until 12:00.

1970 Zag. My review here https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

Don't say the front is ugly...

First series 1967 1200 V4.

A time capsule car. An ex-Geert Kistemaker Lancia.

I think that I am the only Lancia fan on the planet who prefers the UK Fulvia front end with the kicked-up outer headlights over the European ‘flat front’ models

I’m with you on that but didn’t realise it was a UK market only feature

Isn't that just the difference between series 1/2 and series 3? I' wasn't aware it has anything to do with UK/Europe.

I thought:

S1 & 2 1.3 - Flat front
S2 1.6 - Fanalone (big lamps)
S3 - Kicked up outer lights

Incorrect. To meet UK legislation, all UK official imports from S2 on had the revised front end. S2 and S3 models in other markets retained the flat front

I think the Fanalone were specifically the 1.6 HF Rallye model (S1)

Series 2 1.6

HF Rallye Fanalone (S1)

The Fanalone continued to feature until 1971.

Fanalones attract a (sales) premium but, as ever, caution is needed - Fanalone conversion kits were/remain available. It's a bit like those classic dealers who try to flog off "unique" black badged Lotuses.

I thought about a big lamp kit for my Fulvia Coupe but eventually common sense prevailed - spend a lot of money to make a car less elegant ? No.

Incidentally Lancias were always well/over-engineered but placing a blue flag post in place of a piece of white sticky tape to mark TDC of the steering wheel seems a bit excessive….

Prettier than the sun setting over Charlize Theron, as Jeremy Clarkson famously quipped.

Absolutely.

Remains one of the most affordable & elegant of 60/70's classics - but don't tell anyone.

Piero Castegnaro, the Fulvia head of design, was apparently inspired by the beauty and simple lines of Riva speedboats :

Am I alone in liking the Zagato version?

Not at all - I think they're very attractive cars, not least given the purpose of their design.

I personally prefer the UK front end, despite owning a LHD one with the Euro front:

TBF I think they all look fantastic!

So it all comes down to personal preference, and I prefer the kicked-up outer headlights.
