After some recommendations, the ‘old school’ radiator place that I used to use has shut down now, so looking for somewhere in the south, preferably Hampshire, that I can take a modified metal radiator to and have it repaired, or that can carry out the same modification, (the filler neck is welded over because the rad now sits on its side and is remotely filled through an expansion tank), to another standard radiator so it works in the same way.

Any ideas ?

Thanks for that, such a shame that some of the smaller places are going.

Wessex Radiators in Lowford are long gone.

Ask Abbey Heat in Eastleigh.

Bob was brilliant at Wessex, thanks for the information about Abbey, they had come up on a search, as with all these things it s good to have options that others have used, so thanks to all above.

I recall the days when there was a Serck in every town - you could drop of your rad at and have it back the following week.

I had a great radiator repair place near me a few years ago.
I suspect that the advent of plastic tanks on modern cars has killed them off.

I'll second that. Had a couple sorted by him and they have been perfect since.

Used these guys about 20 years ago, did a good job on my austin Seven. No idea even if the same people run it or not.

Used to be amazed watching old school repairers soldering header tanks. Another skill lost in our throw away society.
