Trident Clipper and Venturer.
Discussion
Anyone know much about these cars?
I remember a garage near where I grew up used to have one (Venturer) round the back for many years, the guy there said it was 5 litre V8. Having looked at pictures on google it seems a little different from most as it had 4 round headlamps.
I remember it being a great looking little and must have had some serious grunt.
How many are still out there and what sort of money do they go for?

Fell in love with a 289 Trident Clipper at a classic car show back in the early '90s. It looked fantastic.
Haven't seen one for sale for a while, but I'd imagine £15k would be the price for a good Clipper. Although when you read a bit about them, the handling wasn't really up to much.
Don't know how many V6 or V8 cars are still around, but it can't be that many.

edited to add, here's a link to their club site:

Yes, they look much far nicer in reality than they do in photos. Perfectly proportioned and very menacing.http://www.tridentcarclub.fsnet.co.uk/

I grew up with Trident Clippers in my blood. My father to this day still owns the original right hand drive Prototype that Trident Cars built. There are 2 more factory prototypes, one left hand drive and the other being a left hand drive convertable. I hepled a little on it's restoration back in 1980. The car is currently in the U.S., and has been for nearly 20 years!

Indeed, nice cars, I saw this one on display at the Goodwood FoS a couple of weekends ago. Hi, I run the Trident Car Club and am naturally very interested in this exchange of views. I note that our website details have been provided. We are a Club of 37 members owning between us almost 50% of Trident's produced. Around 40 vehicles. We are very interested in the history and any stories owners and ex-owners have to tell us.
Most owners buy Trident because above all else they admire the styling, although three models were produced over a ten year period the body styling changed very little. The factory changed the front of the car but the profile varied very little.
Lucero, we believe we know the car you write about and your father was, a few years ago, a member of our Club but now we are unable to contact him. We would greatly appreciate an update.
Please do not hesitate to email me through our website or ask questions here.

The one and only time I've seen a Trident was at the Detling kit car show a few years ago. I remember being very very impressed by the quality of it and just the overall style which I thought was fantastic.
Took some pictures which you can see here

Don't know anything about the car as I never saw the owner. Loved it though.

Yes, the pale metallic blue car above was the last of the 4 TVR Trident prototypes built by Fissore, and the only convertible. It was originally owned by Martin Lilley of TVR then sold in the late 1960s. After several owners it then had an extensive rebuild and is now in France. The red car above is prototype no.3, and these are the only two RHD cars. Both numbers 1 and 2 originally went to the USA, but are now in Europe and are both nearing the end of restoration, hopefully in time to celebrate 50 years since "the most beautiful car in the world" debuted at the Geneva show in 1965.
Oliver.
