R.I.P Ralph Broad. Founder of Broadspeed.

As the owner of Broadspeed Bullit Capri's for a number of years, I feel I must add my sincere condolences to Ralph Broad's friends and family. Through these cars, I feel the loss almost personally. I never had the opportunity to meet the man personally, but am well aware of his massive contribution to British motorsport. People with his knowledge,and expertise are sadly missed, and irreplaceable. Last year at the inaugurable Portugese Historic Motoring Festival, at the age of 83, he was heard to offer reccomendations to Vince Woodman, about the set-up of his Capri in qualifying. He had only watched the Capri on the circuit - but his finger was STILL ON THE BUTTON !!R.I.P. Ralph - A SAD LOSS. 
Very sad news, my condolences to his family. While the Bullit Capri never really made it to series production, the engine was used for 63 TVRs in the late 1970s making it the first British production turbocharged car. It would out accelerate both the Porsche 911 turbo and the Ferrari 308GTB and gave TVR a great flagship at the time. Those of us lucky enough to own one intend to cherish them for ever.

Many people are probably unaware that Broad was was also a very talented driver.
In the 1970 "FordSports Day" 3 Litre Capri race at Brands which had no less than 20 capris driven by drivers of the calibre of Piers Courage, ( who won, beating Vic Elford by a few feet ) also J.Stewart, G.Hill, etc etc, he put on a great display in front of a packed crowd.
