New oldies

Couple of pic's of my new fun chariot and mobile home, ready for next season, almost. Its a 1928 Vauxhall 20/60 'Bedford' saloon and my 1930 Eccles caravan. The caravan was restored back in 1988-90 and is ready and able for weekend s and holidays.

magnificent and road tax free. Just bought a nice Shadow, no real problems for just over £2k, who needs modern tin, ie post 2000.

I think that is brilliant. What a top way of using hard earned funds. Total respect! Yes, I hate caravans just as much as the rest of you but this is totally allowed if you are a petrol head.

This combination won't be a problem for us all, speed should be fine given the absence of brakes.

Thanks for nice comments, I do try my level best to keep out of the way of traffic, if I see people stuck behind me for more than 6 or 7 minutes then I look for a pull in to let them through. Just a matter of common sense really, the old girl will pull along happily at 40mph while towing but I wouldn't dare try going quicker

Didn't expect such generous comments, thank you. The Vauxhall is all original, obviously maintained/repaired over the years, it has a 2.7Lt six cylinder OHV engine mated to a four speed gearbox, so its not to slow for an oldie, certainly quicker than my previous old cars. Petrol thirst comes in at 18mpg and drops to 13mpg when towing
I am just the third owner of the caravan, it came with a full history.
1st owner 1930 - 1988
2nd owner 1988 - 2010
Me 2010

It attracts a great deal of attention at shows, people ask questions like 'do you actually use it as a caravan'? Whats it worth? Where's the shower and toilet?

Thanks again, I'm afraid that I do the whole re-enacting thing of the late 1920's early 30's big double breasted suit and braces, correspondence shoes topped off with either an six sided flat cap or traditional hat for Sunday. But I only dress up at the appropriate shows. Had to stop off on route to a show last year at my local Morrisons, all dressed up wandering through the shopping aisles, felt a right idiot!

Last two pictures, the interior is all original except new upholstery and cutains. I also have the original cooker , a paraffin jobbie which I am terrified to even attempt to use. I have a modern calor cooker for the essential egg and sausages, beans if you see me about pop over for a cuppa.
