remember my dad having a 78 Alpine that basically rusted before his eyes so this has got to be rare - and cheap too!

Cheap? Yeah. Potential classic? No chance.

Rare for a reason. It's like an old washing machine- just becuase it's old doesn't make it collectable.

Oh no, my dad suffered from one of these.
Some cars just deserve to die and be allowed to slip from memory.

So agree. Just 'cos it's old don't mean it's classic!

How about 1950's Austin A90 (A Nasty we used to call'em), Wartburg Knight, AC Buckland (a greenhouse on wheels!), Jowett Jupiter (now that's gonna spark some fury!) - pig ugly.

Ones I'd buy at the moment while they're still cheap - Volkswagen Scirocco Mks 1 & 2, Lancia Beta Coupe & Spyder (Spider?) - forget the great but doomed HPE, I'll come up with some more when my brain gets working.
