But does it *really* matter in the scheme of things? There are far more important things to worry about; it just turned into a Labour trial-of-strength.

It is bloody cruel. Need I say more? Of course there are other issues in life and this great big world of ours.

I have faith in the fact that the parliment act will be found to be a void piece of legislation.

If that fails.. well, i think civil war would be a good phrase to sum up the response.

Regardless of your views on hunting the method they have used to steamroller legislation past the H.O.L. is remarkably undemocratic IMO.

In the UK we have a bicameral system, one which when operated correctly should operate as checks and balances to prevent one house from using powers it does not have.

If this is the way our govt is going to push legislation through there may be no limits to what they could try, everyone but MPs banned from driving?

..and trap and poison them.

Trivial stuff to keep the masses from thinking about important stuff.

Don't want to start a huge argument here, but personally I disagree with the ban.
However, its just New Labour again giving a show of so called strength so that ol' Tony can cement his place in history.

What a load of ing rubbish

The Lords is not democratically elected though, why should an un-elected house prevent the Bills of a democratically elected government?

The good things:

It will lose BLiar votes, it will end something which is essentially cruel and the focus can shift to something more important!

steamroller!!!!!

How many times have the Lords tried to scupper the will of Parliament over this issue.

To prevent predudice legislation like this bill becoming law. I've always thought an unelected chamber overseaing the elected one is a good idea. It SHOULD stop MP's running riot with 'popular legislation'

Agree, he is in for a rough time, but good news about the foxes.

They need to be controlled, i agree, but with a better method, shot gun would do, quick and easy.
