Reminds of a Freddy Star (true) story. He got into big trouble a few years ago when he was invited to switch on the Blackpool lights.

He said to the gathered crowd "before I switch on the lights I've got some extremely sad news to report. Apparently Father Christmas has been killed in a fatal car crash". Apparently some kids were distraught!
