I`m getting password fatigue!!

Could this be a new syndrome? With all the online bank accounts, retail sites, web hosts, etc etc, I`m starting to forget them all. If all the sites could accept the same I.D. and password, it might not be so bad but of course some are case sensitive, some are just letters, some are numbers, some are mixtures, some are email address - it`s all too much I tell you

I could be talking rubbish here, but don't Norton do some software that stores all your passwords for you but stops them getting hacked?

Friend of mine bought his first ever computer 3 years ago. Top of the range Mac G4. He installed everything and subscribed to everything he could find.

When he revisited these things to use them and was asked for a password, he was stumped. I asked him if he'd put passwords in. 'Yes, but I made them up and can't remember them', he said.

Back to the good ole Filo fax, wont have to worry about forgetting a password to get into that, unlike the hand held computer diary thingii

Forgot to replace the backup battery on mine so thats 5 years of addresses and wot not gone. Poxy technoligyzxectefrty.

Mine recognises my fingerprints.. Although not at midnight when there is no light and I need to get into it to find the file I'd saved with instuctions on how to get into a jammed boot to retrieve my keys so I can get into my flat..

Spare keys now live with my neighbours..

been there, done that, got the tee shirt so now use a mk1 pencil, paper diary and address book. Saves a fortune on Duracells as well!

I don`t believe it - I had to log into Pistonheads just now!! It usually remembers me It`s the ones you don`t use very often that catch you out! Mine run on a theme but that still leaves massive scope for variations - that I forget!

i have a variable password......i.e. always the same "essence" but depending on the site's password rules it can be edited. Thus....all my passwords are similar but nto that same!?

does that make sense? Dont wanna give away too much you see!

Doing stuff like this (and then telling the internet about it ) is what makes passwords easily crackable!

Back OT, I know what you mean about "password fatigue". Its set to get worse with every card you own soon needing a PIN - what's the betting that most people end up using a single PIN for everything and then getting shafted when they loose their wallet / purse?

Was just about to suggest that, also try using an easy to remember name and then just change a few letters for numbers or special characters. Straight names are trivial to crack/guess.

P4s5W0rd is a lot better than password and yet will stick in your mind once you have used it a few times.
