I think Bliar was the only big hitter not to return to his country when this disaster happened.
Actually, that may be unfair, he spends so much time out of the country maybe him being on holiday makes no difference?
I'm sure he has a mobile
He has a mobile allright.... Its called his perception of truth as it is at this moment....

I think all parties and leaders have and are guilty of that. Bush, Blair, Mrs T, Callaghan (yes I can remember him ...just).
I'm confused by the original poster's comments. On one side you're saying "bloody lentilists blah blah"
[indicating that you're against people who hate telling others to do the "morally" [in their eyes] right thing and that they're wrong to impose their thoughts on others and that you hate all the goody-two-shoes type people].
And then on the other side.......you're saying EXACTLY that! Blair should have welcomed the dead, it's morally wrong etc.etc.
You seem like the sort of fellow who would have instantly jumped down his neck should he have been there, somber, respectful, exclaiming it to be nothing but a PR stunt.
If this is truly the most important thing that you can get worked up about today, then you are doing oh so well. Otherwise, ...go do something useful

I think all you are seeing here is one of many people that have just had enough of Bliar and are now looking for any excuse to have a dig at him, just like before Maggie was shipped out - they simply want him out.
IMO I think Bliar should have returned to the helm discreetly (without a big PR return) and had a holiday later. Its not as if he is a stranger to leaving this country, he spends most of time out of it.
I must confess, I would have prefered if he had stayed there for good and UPSd the keys of No10 back

hehe, that made me chuckle!
Don't get me wrong, I am equally annoyed at the state of many things in this country. Perhaps you are right though - maybe we are getting to the point (as a country, whether it's the media, the politicians, or even the original poster above) that he can now do no more right.
I was still young at the time of Thatcher (I'm 24) so not that aware of the state of the nation at the time.
What I do think now though is that this year is most definately the right time for a general election!

Lucky you

Just before to Tories were made homeless they had reached a level of arrogance that was intolerable. It "seemed" like they just did whatever suited the party regardless of what was good for the country.
Bliar reached the same point in a lot less time and then passed it by some margin. The fact he is still where he is and still has enough people fooled is without doubt a credit to him and his only real achievement.
History will repeat itself here, his days are numbered and I need to talk to a bookie about placing a bet on him stepping down due to ill health if he is disliked any more than he is now at the "right" time before the election
