Recently there was a Vulcan Bomber for sale on e-bay and a thread about it on here.

Well, here's an update....

The plane sold for £15,000 to a guy who owns a pub in the North West.

He has plans to put it into the pub grounds as an attraction for visiting drinkers.

Unfortunately, the buyer has been a bit slow adhering to the e-bay conditions which the seller had attached to the sale of the plane.

Namely, it had to be moved from its current location at Blackpool by January 7th.

Poor mr Publican hasn't got his planning permission in place yet and so can't move it to his pub.

He has also since found out that it is going to cost him another £20,000 to get it broken up for transport to his pub, as and when and if the planning permission comes off.

Not only this but it looks likely that he's gonna have to pay rent to keep it where it is in the meantime. ::

Or pay the £20K to move it somewhere else, only to have to pay another £10K to get it to his pub as and when and IF he is allowed. Double ::

The moral of the story..

Stick to Airfix models?

It's a bit sad really as the Vulcan will end up being scrapped.

I'd agree with that but I think its beyond repair to get it back to anything like, without spending an absolute fortune on it.

Apparently it is very badly corroded. I doubt very much whether it would stand being disassembled and put back together again

As much as I like Vulcans the best thing for this one is to be scrapped. I e mailed the guy and told him what he was taking one. I hav also send PDF files of the manuals to hime to give to the salvage people.

I think at the end of the day he is only going to have the nose section and the rest will be cut up. Even the nose is in a dangerous state of disrepair.
