Why does this woman annoy the hell out of me, is it because she assumes to be the font of all knowledge or is it because she appears to be the ultimate vision of polically correct behaviour or is it because she is the only MP available (odd in itself)when the beeb need to ask inane questions?
She annoys you because she is an utter hypocrite who expresses opinions about how others should act and then does something else herself.
The classic example is the bollocks about how parents should be forced to send their bright kids to local schools with poor academic records to bolster their performance (rather than sending them to private schools).
And sure enough her kid is now attending a private school as she "had to the right thing" for her kid.
This one act is enough in my view to render her unsuitable forever as an MP.
That and any opinion that the state should interfere more and more in our lives is objectionable.
In short: She can
off.

off.I find she's one of the more level-headed of the New Labour intelligentsia, actually, though that's a bit of an oxymoron isn't it.
She's not so politically correct either - she's the one who moved house to make sure her son went to a good school - everyone complained but Labour kept schtum, typical hypocrisy really.
She's been on the fringes since but at least she has been there, and is far more coherent than Robin Cook.
I will admit though, she does get a bit trot-out-the-party-line at times, but that's probably because when you see her on TV she's sitting next to Michael Portillo, who's pretty much her opposite.

They have her on the show because shes something of a loose cannon who speaks her mind. Similar situation with Portillo now he is standing down.
Wouldn't be much entertainment if they had an incoherent communist backbencher or a Blairite robot like Milburn, Darling, Michael etc.
