Football is one of the better sports IMO. It's the players that annoy me, not to mention the absurd amounts of money they earn!

Football isn't so bad. I will say one thing though - why is it seen as perfectly acceptible - admirable, in fact, to be life-consumingly obssessed with all the minutiae, much of it terminally dull, of football, yet if you so much as have a small poster of a Mustang or something, or buy a car magazine, you're branded a saddo?

Why is it that people can go on and on and on about football in the pub, talking about the financial deals involved, transfer markets, managers economic strategies, talking about players with a strange over-familiarity, and yet if you say something like "Jarno Trulli won today" people look at you like you're from another planet.

Ditto.

Rugby? 30 big men grappling each other intimately? Lots of showers together? Popular in public schools?

Pathetic game. I HATE it with a passion!

National conformist obsession. It's getting worse. If you're not into it, you're an outcast.
It's the rise of the moron culture over here.
Heard of Bread and Circuses?
Ancient Rome classical civilisation- the theory goes something like this:
You give your citizens food and let them consume themselves in meaningless mindless gladiator games at the local ampitheatre and they're less likely to revolt or feel strongly about, say, high taxes. They'll be too drained.
I'm lucky in that where I work, although there are alot of guys, many really can't stand football. So I don't have to endure hours of drivle talk.

Ditto. I just can't understand what all the fuss is about. Nearly as exciting as F1

Prefer bike racing myself, at least things happen!

I have never liked football! When ever I hear it from the radio or tv, I have to turn to the other channel. Glad it's not a big thing here anyways. But in some places it's more like a cult and your definitely an outcast if you don't like it.

Nope hate football....

But, I can understand and apprechiate why people like it. But the one thing that puts me off is the tribe mentality of it all. You can support more than one team.... you cant apprechiate another teams player and you certainly cant be seen watching the "hated" team....

Why? Surely good football is good football? By all means you can dislike a team or an individual, but why the tribe bit? Its all daft and I hate it with a passion.

Give me club motorsports - fun, entertaining and you are allowed to watch ANYONE drive and support ANYONE.... they are just glad that you came to watch....
