I live on a small development of 70 detached 4/5 bedroom houses on the edge of the green belt. All houses have their own drives for at least two cars, and 90% have double garages, though three others have converted one garage into a room.
The development was completed 3 years ago.

At this time of year, for our early morning perambulation I and two canine companions tend to walk the streets, the reason for this is that as they are both vertically challenged, the proximity of their underside to the detritus of field and woodland is unacceptably close.

The road system for this development contains a number of junctions, curves and bends, the roads themselves are quite narrow, with just enough room for cars to pass, the layout does not really accommodate on-street parking.

There seem to be only 2 or 3 houses (apart from chez Bat21) where the garages are used as such and only 3 where the residents actually reverse into their drives. Why do they park nose in, then exit backwards into what is actually a poorly sighted narrow lane at the best of times?
And as for you madam, yes you, you with the black Range Rover, if you cleaned the F****** windows and actually look before you reverse you may stand a chance of not running over me and my dogs!!

Why do these halfwits have to accelerate to warp speed in narrow residential streets? Why do they cut all the corners and fail to give way at junctions?, why have all the people carriers been turned into 4x4’s, and why can’t they clean their windows before driving off?, why don’t they clear the boxes out of the garage and use it to park one of there four cars in instead of cluttering up the street with Chesney’s 3 series or Bmw Mini?.

Were is the section of the X5 hand book which says that “if there is a car parked on the left hand side of the road obstructing your free passage, and a car coming towards you, do not slow down and give way, if you apply sufficient pressure to the peddle on the right, as you accelerate your vehicle will become narrower and longer, thus allowing you to proceed through a gap which does not actually exist. The effect can be enhanced further by leaning in towards the centre of your vehicle and gesticulating wildly whilst mouthing obscenities at the oncoming vehicle.!

This was predicted by Einstein, but should only occur at relativistic speeds approaching the speed of light.

Perhaps those X5s are faster than they look?
