Our local weekly rag has just given details of a couple who have been on holiday and survived.....

Twin Towers collapse on Sept 11
Earthquake in Japan Oct 2004
Boxing Day tsunami, they were on the beach in Maldives.

They'll probably play it safe next year and go to Bridlington, only to fall off the end of the fish pier.

I think I would go nowhere! Sounds like they're cursed!

While we are on the subject, why is it when we hear of these stories, these people weren't 'just there' and rather, they 'survived' / 'narrowly escaped death' / 'etc etc'?

I can't stand it when people were near an incident/atrocity and blag their story, even if nothing happened to them. I guess it's because people lap it all up.

They should split up.

There's an in-joke amongst a few of my friends that terrible events happen whenever we are abroad together. We jokingly said no more holidays together. Will put it to the test again to see what happens.
