Their factsheet for the UK makes interesting reading

Despite the damage wrought by long-term underinvestment, England still has an adequate rail service - that is, if you're travelling as a tourist rather than trying to get to work on a weekday morning.
If you're going to drive yourself, you're in for a parking nightmare - it's almost impossible to get a park in the city centre, and the punishments for parking illegally are cruel and unusual indeed.

Lots of tour operators are pushing them - about the cheapest prices. And lets face it, the Arabs aren't short of a bean or two.

I flew to Thailand over Xmas with Qatar Airways, who are a lot cheaper than European airlines. I slummed it in economy but still had more legroom than a recent BA flight and had about 10 movies on demand.
Don't discount them just because they're new.
BTW, you can probably get cheaper with a stopover in Iraq!!

They are UAE's new 'Budget' Airline. As they have been so successful with Emirates, Etihad has been launched to capitalise on budget travellers passing through the region. It looks as though the plan was for mainly short-haul flights in the Gulf, an business that Gulf Airlines from Bahrain seemed to own. As there are huge numbers of migrant workers in the region that are becoming increasingly mobile, I guess its a sound business proposition. I guess they have been successful and are now offering longer haul flights (remember that there are many Thai and Phillipino workers in the Gulf).
