My Saab has just snapped its timing belt. Every car I have owned has incurred at least one major failure, three of them totaling over a grand each. With my luck, this thing has in interference type engine. It did happen just off idle though, so (hopefully) nothing hit. This is of course an engine-out kind of job. Adding insult to injury, I had to pay 70 dollars to have it towed a mile. Why can't I just catch a break? So what say you, fix the v6 or replace it with a turbo 4 cyl? And I wanted to sell it for something cheap to beat up on...

tbh - ive never had all that much luck with my cars either, but the way i get round is by 'changing down' when i have to. having driven my pug (£150 bills EVERY month without fail - tyres, alternator, starter, immobiliser etc etc) sometimes you have to drive a nail for a bit while you consolidate.
i feel for you with your recent drama, in the past five years ive paid for 4 clutches, 2 gearboxes, driveshafts, brakes, the list goes on. it finally all stopped when i bought an old ford for £275 that wasnt (and still isnt) all that snazzy, but, has helped me stabilise my losses. maybe similar might work for you?
