Need some top tips...

Anyone involved in Retail management want to give me some pointers on good questions to ask except 'how much will you pay me?'

I work fast... went out pounding the streets today and got an interview in the bag after 40 mins, quite proud of myself

well done and good luck, been there and done that chap, long hours, over worked (unreliable chav type staff) and crap pay and conditions IME, but that was a few years back in electrical retail.

What type of outlet is the interview with?

It's all about reaching sales targets these days, and working out how much each square foot makes.Maximising sales by identifing and pushing your best sellers.

Good merchandising and customer service have all but disappeared.

You will be expected to be able to monitor staff sickness and performance, and implement a strategy when these fall short of what's expected.

Thanks Wedge, that was helpful... just been for the interview and got the vibe that its all about making every corner of space make a profit.

Seems clever stuff.

Did put my opinions on Customer service over though as the lady used to be a head honcho at selfridges, n i thought she might like that...

Only 8 more applicants for her to get through so should hear soon

What Line of work you in wedge?

I used to be a director of a plc with a large sports/fashion retail chain as part of it.

Customer service was close to the top of the list when it came to staff training. The customer is king these days and making him feel welcome in store was a major priority.

Are the head offices of Arcadia still in Berners St?

Don't know matey, had my Interview at the store in Bluewater.

Really looking forward to it, should be a completely new challenge after estate agency

Any Ideas on how to get ahead?

And will I be better off working for the big boys like arcadia, house of fraser etc. Or one brand firms, Funkier companies like Ted Baker, Hilfiger etc?
