Now the bit that gets me is the last sentence:

"Doctors at the hospital said it was the second time a patient had failed to notice a nailgun had fired a nail into their heads."

WTF - how the hell could you not notice that?

I heard of a guy who was killed on a building site when a nail gun was fired through a piece of cladding, missing the steel batten behind!!

Having used a hilti nail gun to fix timber to joists, I can believe it!! lethal in the wrong hands.

I can't believe he didn't feel it/notice it for god sake. We're not talking about a 1/2" panel pin. I used to be a carpenter and anyone within 10 miles of me would know if i had shot a 4" nail up my bugle.

The thing is, nail guns drive the nail in so fast (like a fraction of a second) that you probably wouldn't have time to even register pain. It would just feel as if someone had smacked you round the head, I would imagine.

Odd. Youd think he might have noticed with his tongue or something. Is that a mouth ulcer or have I got a nail in my brain?

Thats what I thought, the Seattle paper said he thought the gun had hit him in the mouth. I suppose that would explain bleeding from around his teeth, but wouldn't he realize that hole in the roof of his mouth wasn't there before? They also said he had 80-100k in medical bills and no insurance!
