Im not having a very good run of events over the last 2 weeks. My nan who had just turned 80 died 10 days ago after a short smoking related illness. If that wasnt bad enough i have just got off the phone to my mum who has just informed me our family cat of 16 years has been put down today.

Im feeling very low at the moment, its really bad timing as im a week and a half away from completing the purchase of my first house.

sorry to trouble you all with my story but its helps to get it off your chest.

It is common to feel sad, discouraged or down once in a while. If you feel ill please call NHS direct on 08454647.

Otherwise try some happy music.

Life's like that at times. Sorry to hear your bad news.

If it's any help, there are plenty of good things in your life I expect, if you look for them.

You're young and with plenty of opportunities that others don't get.

Go for a nice relaxing drive - usually works for me!

yep, been there myself before for similar reasons.

Short term, go for a blast along some scamera-free roads that you know well.

Longer term is to (genuinely) remember the good times had with those lost.

I remember some cheerful sod once telling me that 'Things are never that bad that they can't get worse!'

However, things will get better and you will feel more cheerful soon.

Good look with your first home purchase - surely that's sometning to get excited about....

Richie.

Bad things often come at once, and it feels like the world is against you. We've all had these patches, but it does get better - honest!

Keep your spirits up while it feels like you are wading through treacle, and the little things will make you feel better (i.e. the witty PH massif).

Good times will roll on before you know it. In the meantime - hugs to you!

My condolences on both counts and don't forget this time of year is generally accepted as being one of feeling down even if there are no specific reasons to be so. Mid-winter blues and the emptiness after Xmas and the New Year.

Add in a couple of good personal reasons to feel down and the seemingly endless tide of bad news from around the world and you can see, perhaps, why you feel particularly bad at the moment. And don't forget that, in spite of the excitement, buying a house at any time can be stressful in itself and in the changes it is likely to bring personally.

So don't feel bad about feeling bad and look for something or someone supportive as a sounding board for the coming weeks. Above all keep a balanced perspective - look for positive things in your life in addition to working through your negative feelings.

Spring is coming soon.

Surely the decision as to whether or not to have their loved ones cremated is a matter for only the closest family members.

Whilst I'm sure you mean well, I doubt that your suggestion will be very well received particularly in view of your choice of rather insensitive language which,in these circumstances, some would perhaps view as being somewhat inflamatory.

That sounds like a cool idea! By the way, that Capri on your profile is ultra cool! Is it yours?

Yeah, we sadly left it in Gambia. One day I will get it back. Looked at another one tonight though

I reckon a budget Capri is about as much fun as you can have on the road.

Yes, PDC 04. Worst Capri in the world. 60 different plates to patch the shell up, set fire to it with the welder, ed about with the engine, released huge power. Was deafeningly loud, had to wear earplugs all the way. Sounded ace in the Spanish tunnels in 3rd Drove from Roscoff to Gib in well under 20 hours. Best car in the desert by far.

Spent most of the prep time larging it around the industrial estate (private road) sideways with smoking tyres.

I have been feeling down recently and my PDC mate and I looked at one tonight and I felt lots better. I reckon a Fat Capri has got to be the bona fide heart mender.

Oh dear, sounds like my situation last last March.
My grandads funeral was the same day I had to give up my dog unwillingly, I lived in Cornwall at the time and was sellling my flat in Torpoint, the day this happened was also the day my flat sold, so this was also a week before I moved 300 miles up here and changed job.
Things will get better.
I hope not to sound morbid, but I find deaths are sometimes easier to mourn than other things that you lose, but thats just me.
At least they are at peace.

Oh Christ! I've just realised how that looks! Obviously what I meant was that Richie should go out and raise a glass or five, it wasn't meant to be an allusion to cremation!

Sorry Richie
