Having seen the original, I was wondering if the new one (2003) was any good? My brother claims it was much scarier but is it? I ask because Play.com have it on offer for £6.49 and am in the process of expanding my DVD collection.

I found it absolutely bloody terrifying. But that was in the cinema and you don't get the same sort of atmosphere in your living room.

Haven't seen the original so can't compare the two.

cheers Rob. So that's 2 people who found it scary I must admit, the last film I found scary was the original Shinning. For £6.49 I may as well buy me thinks

I can't even entertain the thought of watching something so scary on my own.. the music is bad enough
