..do you think he should get to drive a TVR as 007?

After all he started TVR lessons under Mr TRevolting in Swordfish, didn't he!?

And there was me remembering that the family of Ian Flemming who control the Bond empire wouldn't let a non British actor play the part.

The same family who said that each film would not reference the others and should standalone by itself (bang goes that with Die Another Day).

Still, they could make a worse choice!

That's a point...

...hey! Hang on - I look like that, or did two years ago before I got my barnet trimmed.

Clearly I could do the job and he could double as a stand in.....

Jackman is just wrong for the part on so many levels...

Clive Owen would be my pick...

He is a desperatly wooden actor...

A far superiour choice, above all without shadow of a doubt in my mind is Daniel Craig who was in Layer Cake from last year!

I assume, after my previous post, that you mean me - then Jackaroo can be my stunt double!

I thought a few weeks ago it was goind to be that black chap, the one who was in the JB films already as a sort of assistant to Julie Dench?

I still think Vinnie Jones would be good. Him or Kwith Eubank.

I thought Owen would be good too, until I saw King Arthur. What a heap of crap that film was. But that wasn't as bad as Van Helsing, which apart from Beckinsale was probably the worst film I've ever seen.

What about Colin Hunt?

"Ah Miss Pennymoney, My names Bond, Brooke Bond...no it's Basildon Bond, no actually it's Mutual Bond. I'm a safe investment in Britain's future."

I have a bit of inside information on this - can't say how I came by it I'm afraid.

Apparently this guy, who is in Holby City may be in the running, he certainly looks the part:

Maybe. I would still say Clive Owen. I would have said Christian Bale but apparently he was given the choice between maybe doing Bond and definately doing Batman, and he chose Batman.

I'm not sure what you mean by Clive Owen being wooden. I'd say he can pull off 'suave' easily (seen Croupier?), and get himself involved with intrigue convincingly (Gosford Park). I haven't seen Closer but he got an award for it so he can't be that bad.

I just don't think Clive Owen looks the part - he's not good looking enough IMHO (which is a straight IMHO...lol)

Well, no. George even started filming Diamonds Are Forever but Sean Connery, who'd been bumming around for a few years, decided he wanted to do it again. Danjaq even tried to keep Lazenby, but Connery was offered a £1 million contract by Eon and couldn't refuse.

I don't think George Lazenby was so unwatchably bad (in fact, due to the fact that people who like pointing out cliches in Bond films tend to overlook OHMSS makes it far more watchable than, say, Goldfinger, which I find to be interminable dross - Thunderball is much better)

Same goes for Timothy Dalton - not everyone's idea of 'Bond' after Roger Moore arsed the role up through the '80s, but Dalton was playing the Bond of the novels, and extremely convincingly as well. I still reckon the three best Bond films are Thunderball, Goldeneye and Licence To Kill, followed by The Living Daylights, OHMSS and The Spy Who Loved Me.

My wife would certainly disagree... I think women like their men not to look like those chisled models in the Gilette ads, who look a bit too groomed.
